Thursday Book Review: Lone Wolf and Cub Volume 23-24

As Ogami Itto and Retsudo clash not even the heavens themselves will stand in their way.  Even as the two survive a flood and begin to duel, the Shogun's taster, someone who has access and knowledge of poison sets himself against them.

But the poison doesn't work.  And as both men through strength of will fail to fall to death, the call a truce and find shelter at Retsudo's compound, only to agree upon another meeting.  Diagoro also, helps both of them and it costs him the use of his hands as he comes down with frostbite to help both of them.

The poisoner heals him and is released by the two men.  He then returns to the capital and tells the Shogun of the Yagyu letters and the betrayal at the hands of Retsudo.  The Shogun immediately summons the head of the Yagyu and Retsudo in turns summons all of his ninja.  His 'blades of grass' ready he sends on last message to Ogami.  This is to let him know that he might not make it to their final meeting with swords drawn.

During the questioning from the Shogun, it is revealed to Retsudo that the Poisoner is actually the person who told the shogun about the Yagyu letters and as the head of the Yagyu clan denies what he has been doing it is agreed upon that he will go to trail for the things he has done.

At the main trial, refusing to give proof to the judges, they decide that they will put Retsudo under house arrest and that they will go find Ogami Itto and summon him to the castle for questioning.  The two of them come face to face again, without their swords.
