Volume 6 capitalizes on were volume 5 ended. Ogami is still on a road to redemption, but now the stakes have been raised. Since drawing the attention of more notable enemies and assassins The Lone Wolf now himself has began a feud with another clan.
In the last chapter of volume 6 he takes on a job to attack some retainers of the Shogunate himself and by doing this draws out some of the Shogun's top assassins and ninjas. Heavy with fever from a fire that he caused Ogami is still triumphant. But just barely.
The Lone Wolf also uses a dog to lure out an old samurai, basically using the dog as bait. Even though his young son falls in love with the dog, I'm still surprised to see Ogami Itto be such an amazing tactician.
Diagoro even does his best to try to keep his father alive even when the fever hits and they hid in an old hut in a small town. It also seems like more and more people in high office are discover the plot by the yagyu clan to frame The Lone Wolf and Cub.
To me what is surprising is that so early in the series, there is 28 volumes and the plot has already moved pretty far in terms of the narrative of The Lone Wolf and Cub. I will be surprised to see what happens next and how they keep tension going through the novel.
This was another stellar issue of Lone Wolf and Cub. Let me know in the comments below what you think.
