The 9/11 Report: Endgame

by Joseph Carlson

During the late summer before 9/11 none of the pieces were fitting.  Out of all the suspects none of them were able by any intelligence agency to be brought together.  Although many of the suspects going to flight school in the US, and more importantly, Arizona.  Many of the individuals were being suspicious and making bold statements about their ability, none of them were able to be cross-checked with other people in other databases.

This was a major problem in the counter-intelligence community.  Because of the red tape and other hoops to jump through, many of the agents investigating these people couldn't find data or sift through enough data to make connections between suspects.  This was ultimately what lead to 9/11.  Not some government conspiracy or government overreach, but in fact that most agencies were spread so thin that they could not connect the dots in time.

And it wasn't just the US agencies but it was the fact that many of the countries overseas with knowledge of the events couldn't help us.  Again because of the red tape and possible conflict of interest with their internal investigations.  This was new territory for everyone.  And ultimately it would be too late.

So the next chapter have to deal with the building themselves and how they are secure they were during the attacks.  Was there anything else that could have been done to the Towers themselves to make them more secure?  I'll have to read the next chapter to find out.
